Using controller based BASIC scripts for distributed local automation

In many cases FAULHABER MotionControllers are connected to supervisory control systems using their different communication interfaces – CANopen, EtherCAT or even RS232. While this is the preferred strategy if multiple movements have to be coordinated by such an industrial master there are may situations where a single axis is used and could be controlled by a few discrete I/Os. FAULHABER MotionControllers V3.0 offer very flexible digital I/Os and analog inputs. As a special feature these I/Os can directly be used within the MotionController to generate local automation beyond the capabilities of simple configuration. All members of the MC V3.0 family of motor drivers offer the same simply but convenient BASIC scripting capabilities which can even be used parallel to the communication interfaces thus sharing tasks between the master and the MotionController.

The webinar about local scripting will give short introduction of the BASIC dialect and the MotionController specific enhancements. The coding environment integrated within the FAULHABER MotionManager is demonstrated and possible strategies how and what to implement will be discussed using a few examples.

In his position as group leader of the MotionControl application support firmware architecture, he was responsible for the development of the FAULHABER MC V3.0 generation. “I am able to answer all the technical questions around a FAULHABER MotionControl or SpeedControl system. Due to many years of experience I am also “speaking” CANopen on C1 level.”
