Sustainability is one of the core values of our company. Careful handling of resources and the reduction of harmful emissions are, therefore, key elements of our corporate management. FAULHABER makes an active and important contribution to protecting the environment in an independent and conscientious way.
FAULHABER technology is already making a contribution to responsible and sustainable handling of natural resources by developing drive systems with a high degree of efficiency and low energy requirements. Benefiting from this are our customers from a wide range of industries such as medical, robotics or industry & automation.
In order for us to preserve the abundance of natural ecosystems for future generations, FAULHABER has set itself the goal of achieving sustainability and is acting accordingly. After all, we are aware of our responsibility to future generations and have therefore anchored sustainable action in our corporate mission statement.
FAULHABER has, for many years, worked constantly on achieving the goal of zero greenhouse gas emissions. In the Schönaich location, for example, a cogeneration unit was installed that produces power and heat and functions considerably more efficiently than standard heating systems. Photovoltaic systems for power generation were installed and expanded at many locations of the group of companies. The additional demand for power is (with the exception of a few locations) obtained from regenerative sources.
CO₂ emissions occur not only in production or in administration but also during business trips by car or by plane. All greenhouse gas emissions are computed based on consumption, and the corresponding quantity is compensated for elsewhere.
With the non-profit organization atmosfair, FAULHABER has a partner who compensates unavoidable greenhouse gas emissions in a purposeful and deliberate manner. For every ton of emitted greenhouse gas, FAULHABER contributes financially to an atmosfair project for clean power from crop residues in India. This project enables small farmers to sell their previously worthless crop waste to a biomass power plant. This replaces fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, thereby avoiding CO₂ emissions.
Thanks to these measures, a milestone was reached: CO₂-neutral production. Since 2020, all production and development locations of FAULHABER Drive Systems worldwide have been producing CO₂-neutral.
It is our declared goal and commitment to constantly improve our life-cycle assessment. The framework is provided by the requirements of ISO 14001, which are met by all production and development sites. In this regard, we regularly evaluate the state of our environmental management system. We examine the technical and organizational procedures and processes to identify possible weak points and take all necessary measures for avoiding harmful environmental impacts from our activities and products. Thanks to the responsible use of energy sources and raw materials as well as the reduction of environmental pollution through measures including the use of recyclable packaging, avoiding compressed air in production, or leasing bicycles for commuting, we make an important contribution to the protection of the environment and natural resources.
