Sustainability is one of the core values of our company. Careful handling of resources and the reduction of harmful emissions are, therefore, key elements of our corporate management. FAULHABER makes an active and important contribution to protecting the environment in an independent and conscientious way.
FAULHABER technology is already making a contribution to responsible and sustainable handling of natural resources by developing drive systems with a high degree of efficiency and low energy requirements. Benefiting from this are our customers from a wide range of industries.
In order for us to preserve the abundance of natural ecosystems for future generations, FAULHABER has set itself the goal of achieving sustainability in all of its facets and is acting accordingly. After all, we are aware of our responsibility to future generations and have therefore anchored sustainable action in our corporate mission statement.
FAULHABER has, for many years, worked constantly on achieving the goal of a balanced life-cycle assessment. In the Schönaich location, for example, a cogeneration unit was installed that produces power and heat and functions considerably more efficiently than standard heating systems. We do, of course obtain the natural gas used for the system in a CO2-neutral manner. Photovoltaic systems for power generation were installed and expanded at many locations of the group of companies. The additional demand for power is (with the exception of a few locations) obtained from regenerative sources.
CO2 emissions occur not only in production or in administration but also during business trips by car or by plane. These have likewise been offset since the start of 2021. With the non-profit company Atmosfair, a partner was found that is able to carry out the compensation in a targeted and serious manner. FAULHABER supports the Atmosfair project “Efficient cookstoves ‘Save80’ in Rwanda”. With the Save80 cookstove, 80% less firewood is required compared to a conventional cookstove. This is good for the climate and avoids deforestation.
Thanks to these measures, another milestone could be reached for the first time: climate-neutral production. Since 2020, the Schönaich location is one of the first production companies in Germany to produce climate-neutral – preparations are ongoing in other locations.
It is our declared goal and commitment to constantly improve our life-cycle assessment. Serving as a yardstick for us here is compliance with the requirements of ISO 14001, which is met by all locations as a minimum. In this regard, we regularly evaluate the state of our environmental management system. We examine the technical and organisational procedures and processes to identify possible weak points and take all necessary measures for avoiding harmful environmental impacts from our activities and products. Through consistent recycling, conscientious handling of energy sources and raw materials as well as a reduction of the environmental impact, we make an important contribution to conserving the environment and resources.
